The Kent Muslim Cultural Association (KMCA) was established by a group of like-minded individuals who identified the need for an Islamic school to support the growing Muslim community in and around Bromley.
Our journey began in May 2004 at a local school with just 50 students enrolled on a trial basis. The success of these initial sessions laid the foundation for what the KMCA School has become today.
We now serve over 130 students aged 5 to 16, thanks to our dedicated team of teachers, administrative staff, and volunteers who have cultivated a vibrant and supportive learning environment.
The school operates every Saturday during term time, with classes running from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Our school year is enriched with several key events, including the Annual Quran Competition, Parent-Teacher Consultations, the Student Awards Ceremony, Community events, Sports activities, and joyful Eid Celebrations.
At KMCA, we remain steadfast in our mission to provide quality Islamic education and Arabic language nurturing the spiritual and personal growth of our students.
Islamic Studies
Islamic Studies provides comprehensive learning program for our pupils to prepare them for life and beyond. It assists our pupils in understanding the topics thoroughly. It includes seven subjects but due to limited time, only few subjects are taught. The subjects include Aqidah and Creed, Fiqh, Seerah and life of the prophet (peace be upon him), Ta’reekh of the prophets mentioned in the Quran, Akhlaq and Aadaab.
Arabic and Islamic studies are structured into age-appropriate groups to ensure effective learning.
For Quran studies, we recognise that students' abilities in mastering the Quran can vary significantly. To address this, we have established different Quran levels, and students are assessed upon enrolment to place them in the appropriate level. This ensures they join a class that aligns with their unique abilities and knowledge, while also keeping Arabic and Islamic studies aligned with their age group.
Additionally, students have the flexibility to advance to a higher Quran level if they demonstrate significant improvement, even during the school year, to ensure they are always challenged appropriately.
We are committed to fostering a love for the Quran among our students, and one of the ways we encourage this is through our Annual Quran competition.
The competition is designed to assess students across four key criteria:
Accuracy, Fluency, Tajweed, and Presentation.
The event is structured around three categories, where each level challenges students to memorise different surahs according to their age and Quranic knowledge.
For example, students in Reception and Levels 1 and 2 are assigned surahs like Al-Fatihah, An-Naas, and Al-Ikhlaas, while more advanced students in Levels 6 to 8 memorise a broader range of surahs, including Al-Aadiyaat, Az-Zalzala, and even specific verses from Al-Baqara and Al-Kahf.
We believe that every student’s effort is worthy of recognition, which is why all participants are rewarded for their dedication and enthusiasm.
